  • Kurt Cobain the ‘hate himself and want to die” songwriter and frontman for the band Nirvana, was found dead at his Lake Washington home
  • Three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna was killed in an accident during the San Marino Grand Prix
  • “If the glove doesn’t fit, you must aquit” OJ Simpson was cleared of murder
  • It turned out nice again for George Foreman who won the WBA and IBF World Heavyweight Championships by KO’ing Michael Moorer and became the oldest heavyweight champion in history.
  • It was the year that the first passengers traveled through the Channel Tunnel.
  • Home Secretary Michael Howard announced that Myra Hindley would serve a whole life tariff for the Moors Murders of the 1960s.
